COVID-19 - Keene Hall – re-opening - update as at 8th March 2021

As we know, COVID-19 has not gone away – it remains a disease where the level of illness varies from mild to fatal, so our precautions will continue up to and including Sunday 20th June 2021, when Government restrictions, hopefully, will be abolished.

The Keene Hall is a 'Covid-19 Secure' location.

Keene Hall will re-open in accordance with the timetable below, although this may change if Government guidance changes. We will continue to follow current Government guidance on social distancing and other preventive measures to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus disease.

Re-opening timetable - activities permitted:

From Monday,12th April 2021

  • All indoor children’s activities, including dance classes, musical activities, cubs, scouts, brownies
  • Parent and child groups indoors, e.g., parent and toddlers, with up to 15 attending plus under-fives.
  • When can children’s parties take place?
It appears that a children’s party which is run as a supervised activity could potentially take place from 12th April, if run as part of or in accordance with the Govt guidance for out of school settings.(OOSS). These require the party to be supervised by, for example, a children’s entertainer, the leader of an OOSS, teacher or pre-school leader.

From Monday 17th May 2021

  • Controlled indoor events can take place with up to 50% capacity.
  • Hospitality settings will be able to open in accordance with the “rule of 6”, so community cafes, coffee mornings and social clubs can take place.
  • Film shows, plays, concerts and sports matches can take place, subject to social distancing.
  • Indoor sports activities, including exercise classes, table tennis, badminton can take place.
  • Up to 30 people will be able to attend weddings, receptions, funerals, and wakes.
  • Children's parties: from this date, it could take place as a controlled event, with up to 50% of the hall’s capacity and in compliance with the rule of 6, when having a children’s entertainer is specifically permitted because plays, concerts etc are permitted with social distancing.

In brief, hirers/visitors will still need to:

  • Wear masks (it is a legal requirement), unless they have a good reason NOT to do so
  • Comply with 2 metre (6 feet) social distancing notices where possible
  • Wash their hands regularly
  • Use sanitiser on entry to Keene Hall and within meeting rooms and kitchen
  • (Hirers) to provide
    • a Risk Assessment at least seven days before any event. Whilst the Keene Hall can supply a sample RA, it will remain the responsibility of hirers to ensure that any RA that they use is sufficiently adequate for the purposes of their hiring
    • a 'track and trace' list of people attending their event, which they should retian for 21 days
  • be aware that the maximum number of people who may use the:
    • Main Hall is 40

    • Ron White Room is 5
